The Healing Process Of Permanent Makeup

The healing process of permanent makeup typically occurs in several stages and can take about 4 to 6 weeks to fully complete. Immediately after the procedure, the treated area may appear darker, bolder, and slightly swollen or red. This is a normal response as the skin has been lightly irritated by the pigment implantation. Mild tenderness, dryness, or tightness is also common during the first few days.

Within the first 5 to 10 days, the skin begins to heal and may start to flake or peel as the outer layer sheds. During this stage, a new layer of skin grows over the pigment covering it. The colour will look lighter or uneven, which can be concerning but is completely normal and temporary. It is important not to pick or scratch the area, as this can cause pigment loss or scarring.

Over the following weeks, the pigment gradually resurfaces and settles into its final shade. By the end of the healing period, the colour appears softer and more natural, and any patchiness typically evens out. A touch-up appointment is highly recommended after healing to adjust colour intensity, blending or shape if needed, ensuring long-lasting and balanced results.
